The Institutes

Ana Visage Institutes were established in 1995 by Mrs. Nahid Ghassemi. She has a Master's Degree in Education and over fifteen years of experience in Electrolysis, Skin Care, Massage Therapy and Permanent Make-up.

Skin care and massage has been a basic beauty wellness regimen for European women for hundreds of years both at home and in spas and salons. Yet in America it has only recently become a subject of interest to the majority. Forty-seven years ago when the first American salon opened for business, only the wealthy thought they could afford this type of service. Today, women and men alike are spending tremendous amounts of time on the care of their skin, and the preservation of their body and whole wellness.

Of course, specialized salons aren't the only place to find skin care professionals at work. You'll find them in the growing numbers of spas across the country, behind department store counters, in the executive suites of cosmetic companies, and in cosmetic surgery offices. Statistics tell how fast the field of esthetics has grown over the past few years.

Now, the health care and wellness profession has really begun to skyrocket and supply can not keep up with demand. Ana Visage Institutes students are often sent out on job interviews well before they have graduated and salon owners visit our school looking for professional staff recruits. If you choose this profession, and you have the aptitude for it, you will have a busy, rewarding, lucrative career in a nurturing profession that has unlimited possibilities. You will become an anti-aging expert, which is of interest to more people now than it ever has been.

The Institutes provide both theoretical and practical training of Electrology with 175 & 300-hour courses, and Esthetics with 150 & 300-hour courses. It offers instruction in Permanent and General Make-up Artistry as well. In 1997 an extended 600-hour course in Electrology was added due to an increase in requirement hours by the state of Maryland.

In 1998 the Institutes began offering an exciting new 600 hour course of Massage Therapy and Body Spa Wellness due to the rapidly growing interest in using massage as a health regimen. We have also expanded our Scientific Esthetician course to 600 training hours to qualify for Maryland Esthetician Exam.

The latest addition to our course offerings is the 1350 hour Beauty Wellness Therapy course, which combines Scientific Esthetics, Massage Therapy and Electrology into one comprehensive course enabling the graduate to assist in all aspects of a full service spa. The Beauty Wellness therapy Course is the largest & most comprehensive course that Ana Visage Institutes offer at this time. To become a fully qualified Beauty Therapist recognized in the United States and most other countries throughout the world, of all the courses we offer, this would be the best course to take.

As Ana Visage Institutes continues to grow, we hope to add other new and exciting programs to our curriculum. We also welcome suggestions on what you would like to see added. The Institutes provide both theoretical and practical training to students around the DC Metro area. We use the most up-to-date equipment for sterilization and application to maintain safety while allowing students to learn.

The teacher to student ratio is, at most, 1:8 with classes available during the day, evenings, or weekends.
